Ideal for either batch fed or in-line parts washing, Jenfab’s rotary drum parts washer is the perfect solution for efficiently processing a  high-volume of parts at a low cost.

The system operates by utilizing a dual action process that combines a powerful spray cleaning for scrubbing exterior surfaces and by total immersion under solution for flushing out the inside of hollow and tubular parts.

Because of its efficient design, Jenfab’s rotary drum washers save 30 to 50 percent more floor space than other models. The spray wash system also uses two rows of high impact V-jet nozzles providing superior cleaning in a shorter distance. Each drum is custom designed allowing even the most delicate parts to be processed without damage. In addition, the highly efficient recirculating dryer typically cuts drying time in half and uses 75 percent less energy than blow off systems.

Additional tanks can be added as required for washing, rinsing, rust proofing, phosphating, sealing, passivating, lubricating, coating and even ultrasonic cleaning. Jenfab offers two models of rotary drum washers: the heavy-duty (HD) for larger parts and the LJ for small to medium sized parts.

Dual Drum Parts Washers cost less to produce and operate than two separate single drum parts washers. Maintenance costs are reduced by sharing common tanks, heating system, pumps and dryer. The drums have separate drives which can operate at different speeds and the drums may be designed differently for various parts.

Every component in this Dual Action Drum Washer from the design of the spray headers, to the integral drying system, was engineered to reduce energy. This drum parts washer is able to run two different parts at once with separated drives for variable speed and process time, reducing maintenance costs over two machines.

Parts are cleaned faster at lower temperatures and in less floor space because of the engineered spray system which incorporates two separate rows of high impact V-Jet nozzles. The spray jets create a powerful cleaning action in the immersion zone which flushes out the inside of deep drawn and blind holed parts.

The two rows of spray nozzles clean much better than machined slots or holes drilled in pipe. As the parts move out of the spray and immersion cleaning zone the dirty solution with chips drains back into the tank. The parts are continually flushed again with fresh clean solution before they enter the rinse station. This method cleans more parts per hour than other systems and usually allows the purchase of a smaller more economical machine.

The Jenfab Recirculating Parts Dryer uses up to 75% less energy and completely dries all parts including deep blind holed parts.

Each drum is custom designed for the parts allowing even delicate screw machine parts with exterior threads to be processed without damage. All components are precision laser cut for precise fit.

Tanks are added as required for part washing, rinsing, rust proofing, phosphate processes, sealing, passivating, lubricating, and coating.

How It Works

Parts are fed on a continuous inline basis by moving the parts through various operations in a horizontal cylinder that is equipped with an internal helix. This causes parts to advance as the drum rotates. The parts are gently tumbled in the washing, rinsing and inhibiting solutions. This part movement exposes all surfaces, edges, and geometries to the immersion soak and spray cleaning action. It also effectively drains and exposes all parts surfaces to the dryer air flow.

Rotary Cob Meal Drum Drying System

A Jenfab Rotary Drum Drying System is designed to process parts in bulk. This is accomplished by moving parts through a horizontal cylinder equipped with an internal helix. This automatically advances parts forward as the drum rotates and allows a large quantity of parts to be effectively dried.

The dryer operates as a closed loop. Parts enter the load end wet and exit the unload end dry. Media is heated and constantly recycled.

The heated drying media rapidly absorbs moisture from components and slightly burnished parts, which improves luster. The moisture is then removed from the media so that it can be effectively reused.

The mass of parts is introduced at the feed end of the machine. This can be accomplished by incorporating an optional vibratory feeder, a hopper style feeder, a belt conveyor or by other means. (To be supplied by customer or by Jenfab upon request.)

The mass of parts is mixed with corn cob or similar material and is gently tumbled. This gentle tumbling action provides a very effective method of completely exposing all edges and surfaces to the action of the heated drying media.

The RPM of the drum allows parts and media to move forward at a constant rate. The mass then enters an area of the drum that has perforated material, where the drying media is automatically separated from the parts.

The design is in fact a drum within a drum. As previously described, the inner drum accepts parts and hot drying media. The drying media passes through the perforations and is deposited into an outer drum. Parts do not pass through the perforations and are discharged at the unload end of the drum.

The outer drum is manufactured with a reverse helix. This reverse helix draws the drying media through a heat zone, causing moisture to be evaporated from the media. The media is then returned to the load end of the rotary drum where the media is reused and mixed with parts to be dried.

COB HEAT SYSTEM

Heating will be with electric heating elements with an indicating temperature regulator. The outer drum jacket is heated and through the principle of heat exchange, the drying media is maintained at temperature. Heat input is shut off when the drum unit stops. This is an important feature. It eliminates any chance of over heating the cob meal and causing a possible fire.
